Working together for community well-being
Using a community-based, collaborative approach, Project Corazón works with our partner teams on community-driven projects that are most important to them. These could be initiatives related to basic needs, education, economic empowerment, health, youth development, or other projects that enhance community development. Project Corazón supports this work by providing necessary program or project related funds (for example, for food items, school supplies, paint or construction materials, help with operational costs) and by providing guidance program development and evaluation processes as relevant. Community-Driven Projects with Misión Esperanza

We are proud to support Misión Esperanza’s Youth Program as they empower young leaders to create positive changes in their community.
Youth programs are the heart of Misión Esperanza’s work. They provide guidance and mentorship for youth in rural Dominican Republic to be leaders in their community – helping them to identify community needs, strengths, and develop solutions – all while building critical leadership skills that will serve them as they continue in their lives.
This incredible group of young adults have worked on projects such as:
- Creating and distributing food packages for families in need
- Community walks to clean up trash in local neighborhoods
- Gathering toys to bring to children in the hospital
- Fundraising for house repairs
- Visiting the elderly and attending to elderly well-being
- Creating a community center
- Reading with young children in an afterschool program

Most recently, the youth groups have decided to work on an anti-bullying campaign, a care-for-the-environment project, and helping to connect community members with needed health resources.
Follow along with these youth’s leadership journey on Misión Esperanza’s website, Instagram and Facebook pages!

When you support Project Corazón and Misión Esperanza,
you are supporting local leaders,
who nurture youth leaders,
who implement projects that promote community well-being.
Broadly, you are also supporting a meaningful partnership between a DR-based NGO and a US-based NGO, honoring the community’s wisdom every step of the way.
